Free Family Fun Day Scheduled in Ellenville

Kingston, NY -- 3/31/2011 —A free Family Fun Day for all area residents will be held on Saturday, April 16 at Buttermilk Falls Townhomes in Ellenville. The event, which will feature a variety of games and fun, educational activities and refreshments, will be held rain or shine from 1 pm – 4 pm at 13 Broadhead Street in Ellenville according to event sponsor, Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO).
Games for adults and kids will include, among others, an Easter Egg Hunt and an Easter Bonnet Contest, with prizes values at more than $500. The event will also feature a visit from the Easter Bunny and free refreshments throughout the afternoon and the Buttermilk Falls Townhome Model will be open for tours.
Free classes in HomeOwnership education will be offered along with information on grants available to potential homebuyers who need help with down payment and closing costs. Free credit checks will be performed for potential homebuyers and anyone who actually purchases a home at Buttermilk Falls and closes before June 30, 2011 will receive a $10,000 discount on the original sale price. Information from other community service providers will also be made available throughout the day.
Buttermilk Falls Townhomes are located at 13 Broadhead Street (the corner of Canal and Broadhead) in Ellenville and are brand new, energy efficient homes with three bedrooms, one and one half baths, kitchens, living rooms and granite breakfast bars. They were completed in August of 2009 to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for households earning 80% or 100% of the area median income. With assistance from RUPCO, families earning as little as $34,000 a year in household income can become homeowners with a total housing cost, including mortgage, taxes and maintenance, of just $888 per month.
