Kingston, NY -- 6/9/2011 — Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO) will celebrate its 30th anniversary at Celebrate Community on Thursday, June 16 at the Senate House Museum historic site on Fair Street in Kingston. A dinner by Amy Kirschner and music by Mike DeMicco will be enhanced by an extraordinary silent auction, and a live auction for five special items recently donated to RUPCO.
"We have some great new surprises for this year's auction," said RUPCO Executive Director Kevin O'Connor, "and most all of our old stand by donors have come back again too." O'Connor said that while there are trips to Florida, Yankee tickets, and a stay at the Emerson Resort, that local art work would be a major theme of this year's auction.
"The talent of our area artists – both professional and amateur – is unsurpassed," said O'Connor, "and this year, the arts community has really stepped up for us."
According to Joan Lawrence-Bauer, Director of Communication & Resource Development, the highlight of the evening could well be the auction of a donated horse statue from a Hors'n Around Saugerties event in 2010. "An anonymous donor has given us "Loan Arranger," a horse designed and painted by Susan Robbins with a sponsorship by M & T Bank." She went on to note that once the original auction of the Saugerties horses, very few ever become available again. "People really hang on to these once they get them, so to have one for our auction is a real treat!"
Reservations and donations are still being accepted at 845-331-2140 x263 or jlb@rupco.org. More information is available at www.rupco.org/celebratecommunity.
