Our excellence in community rehabilitation continues with the recent
completion of the Kirkland at Clinton & Main in Kingston. Combining the
best in historic preservation with the latest in green building
techniques, RUPCO has reached another milestone in its progressive
approach to affordable housing. The landmark structure built in 1899,
acquired its current name in 1922 when it was a 75-room hotel. Click here to visit the Kirkland section of RUPCO's website.
Lauded by builders, environmentalists and preservationists, the 20,000
square feet of mixed use space is a great example of utilizing existing
structures to help revitalize a community. The Kirkland's Geothermal
Heat Pump System, also called a Geoexchange System has helped prevent
excessive use of fossil fuels. With the exception of natural gas to
supply the cooking and hot water needs, the building is completely free
of fossil fuels.
Today The Kirkland boasts seven one-bedroom apartments in addition to
offices and commercial leasing space. Five dwelling units are income
restricted at or below 80% AMI and rents are $800 plus utilities. Two
units are rented at market rate of $920 plus utilities. An application
must be completed. No wait list is maintained at this time.
