Rural Ulster Preservation Company is the local administrator for
the Housing Choice Voucher (Section 8) Program in Ulster County.
This is federal program provides rental assistance for very low-income
families to enable them to choose and lease affordable privately-owned
rental housing. RUPCO currently administers 1277 vouchers.
Our wait list re-opened for a 2 week period from March 6, 2006
to March 24, 2006, but is now closed.
When our wait list reopens we will advertise in local papers, including
the Daily Freeman and on this website.
Program Eligibility
If your income falls at, or below 50% of the Area Median Income
(AMI) you would qualify for Housing Choice Voucher Program assistance.
When the wait list re-opens you should complete our Housing Choice
Voucher rental assistance application, which can be obtained at
our office, weekdays between 8:30am and 4:30 pm. Once you have completed
your application it should be hand deliver or mailed to our office.
Please note households are assisted on a first come first served
basis. For households with more than one family member, selection
will be based on date and time of pre-application. For single person
households, persons who are elderly, disabled, handicapped or displaced
will also be selected before other single person households. Please
remember to keep us informed, with written notification, of any
change in household size, income amount and/or income source.
